Matt Burleson, PE Vice President

As Vice President of BASS, NIXON & KENNEDY, Inc. Matt has directed and provided engineering design and project management for a wide variety of commercial, industrial, and research facilities ranging from 2,000 to 300,000 square feet. His experience includes Class A office buildings, hotels, interior fit-ups, restaurants, renovations, schools, federal and state projects, high-rise buildings, large data centers and laboratory facilities. Matt came to BNK in 1988 and in 1997 became a principal in the firm. Matt has performed system design, development, engineering, analysis, cost estimates, site observations and supervised staff for all trades. Matt’s experience also includes design and engineering of mechanical, fire protection, sprinkler and fire alarm systems for residential, commercial, high rise, federal, state and historical projects.

At BNK, Matt has been the lead partner in charge and electrical engineer on multiple data centers ranging from Tier 1 to Tier 4 for Wake Med Hospital, Time Warner Cable and Road Runner Regional East Coast Hub, Infineon Technologies, Qualcomm and others of varying sizes.

Matt is a graduate of North Carolina State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

1988 - Present

• Electrical/Mechanical Engineer and Principal in the consulting engineering firm of Bass, Nixon & Kennedy, Inc., which offers services in the fields of mechanical, fire protection, electrical, and civil engineering, as well as land surveying. Knowledge of electrical power system design, security systems, lighting calculations, shop drawing review, plan inspections and job coordination with other trades. Performed system design, development, engineering, analysis, cost estimates, site inspections and supervised drafting staff for all trades. Certified by the City of Raleigh to perform and seal fire flow test on an as-needed basis. Design and engineering of fire protection, sprinkler and fire alarm systems for residential, commercial, high rise, federal, state and historical projects.
