Joe Sechler, PE Vice President

As Vice President of BASS, NIXON & KENNEDY, Inc. Joe has directed and provided engineering design and project management for a wide variety of commercial, industrial, and research facilities ranging from 2,000 to 300,000 square feet. Work experience includes project management, design, and administration of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects including: office buildings, high rise, schools, retail centers, auto parks, food service, data centers, and controlled environment rooms. Responsible for project oversight, plan checking, construction administration, and site observations. System design experience includes LEED, heating and air conditioning load calculations, energy cost calculations, chilled and hot water piping, steam piping, high and low pressure gas piping, domestic hot and cold water piping, pressure booster systems, drain, waste and vent. He is licensed in North Carolina and three other states.

Joe is a graduate of North Carolina State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Work experience includes project management, design, and administration of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects including: office buildings, high rise, schools, retail centers, auto parks, food service, data centers, and controlled environment rooms. Responsible for project oversight, plan checking, construction administration, and site observations. System design experience includes LEED, heating and air conditioning load calculations, energy cost calculations, chilled & hot water piping, steam piping, high and low pressure gas piping, domestic hot & cold water piping, pressure booster systems, drain, waste & vent. Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD.


  • 1992 – 1995 Steuer & Associates – Mechanical Engineer with additional experience in electrical design. Work experience included design, layout, and computer-aided drafting for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems for commercial and industrial projects. Responsible for software and hardware for CADD systems.
